Description: 

The MEAL Assistant supports project monitoring activities by ensuring high-quality in-person and remote data collection, contributing to data accuracy, basic analysis, and reporting. The role also supports feedback and complaints mechanisms and the use of digital data collection tools. Working closely with field teams, local partners, and communities, the MEAL Assistant helps generate reliable evidence to improve program quality and accountability.

Main tasks: 
  • Implementing monitoring activities in the assigned areas by ensuring accurate in-person and/or remote data collection (household interviews, phone surveys, focus group discussions, and key informant interviews)
  • Coordinate with field teams and local partners to schedule monitoring visits and data collection activities
  • Understanding the scope, tools & purpose of the activities
  • Support the development of ERC’s MEAL systems and tools for projects’ activities and needs assessments
  • Support basic data cleaning and simple analysis (e.g. Excel/Google Sheets) under supervisor guidance
  • Support preparation of monitoring summaries, dashboards, or input for narrative reports
  • Contribute to identification of key trends, recurring issues, or risks observed during field monitoring
  • Support documentation of lessons learned and field observations for internal use
  • Support the use and maintenance of ERC digital data collection tool
  • Assist in updating questionnaires and monitoring tools based on supervisor guidance and field feedback
  • Handle complaints and feedback received from projects’ beneficiaries
  • Ensure collected data in the database are completed and accurate
  • Provide daily reports of work progress to the supervisor
  • Ensure adherence to ERC’s Code of Conduct
  • Ensure good communication and coordination with project team leaders, and local community
Expectations towards the candidate: 
  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g. humanitarian studies, project management, social sciences).
  • Minimum one year of MEAL work experience - preferably in humanitarian context, social work, community development, NGOs or civil society
  • Experience in use of data collection and data analysis tools as well as software skills (Excel, PPT, Google sheets/forms, etc.)
  • Ability to gather information in an objective, appropriate and sensitive way by carefully observing, actively listening, paying full attention to the situation and the information from the various sources
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to analyze and synthesize information from multiple sourcesAble to remain impartial and maintain confidence
  • Fluency in Ukrainian language and professional working proficiency in English are required
