Description: 

ERC is seeking a dynamic and experienced Country Director to lead our humanitarian operations in Ukraine, based in Kyiv. The CD will oversee the strategic direction, implementation, and quality of ERC’s humanitarian programmes, with a primary focus on cash assistance, livelihoods and protection programming. The role requires a proactive leader with a strong interest in digital services, the skills and motivation to adapt to and help develop new tools, as well as a strong representative skillset.

Main tasks: 
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for ERC’s operations in Ukraine, ensuring high-quality, timely, and accountable programme delivery.
  • Strengthen ERC’s humanitarian programming by integrating innovative digital tools in collaboration with the Digital Solutions department.
  • Proactively represent ERC in coordination forums, with donors, and across the humanitarian community to advocate for the needs of our target groups.
  • Collaborate with the Head Office teams on strategic planning, resource mobilization, and organizational priorities.
  • Lead programme development, coordination, and operational management in alignment with ERC’s global priorities and local needs.
  • Oversee the recruitment, performance management, and professional development of the country office team, fostering a safe, inclusive, and productive workplace.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, security, and compliance standards for all staff and operations.
Expectations towards the candidate: 
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field (humanitarian or development assistance, social sciences etc)
  • At least 3 years of humanitarian field experience, including 1 year in a managerial role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cash-based programming and economic recovery, coupled with a strong passion for innovation and exploring new approaches.
  • Very good knowledge on the humanitarian needs in Ukraine.
  • Strong English language skills (knowledge of Ukrainian and/or Russian is a big plus).
  • A collaborative and inclusive leadership style, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to create and maintain a productive and safe working environment in line with ERC Code of Conduct.
