Work with the Estonian Refugee Council team in Ukraine under the Country Director to support implementation of communications strategy and to establish communications resources for the team, support media engagements and other visibility events, and build the overall communications capacity across the response. The Communications Senior Officer line manages up to two team members, and any relevant consultants/suppliers. They receive technical support from the head office but are expected to work with a high level of independence.
Ülesanded:
Communications
- Lead on producing, updating, and implementing the ERC Ukraine communication strategy and action plan, with special focus on timely implementation of communication outputs of humanitarian projects implemented by ERC.
- Promote, advocate for, and raise awareness about ERC’s work, impact, and results through a variety of communication channels, in close cooperation with the Country Director, Head of Programme and Technical experts.
- Produce and implement media and advocacy plans for selected thematic events, for example anniversaries, world humanitarian/refugee/women’s day, or significant contextual events. Organize activities, (i.e. tabling or panels/round tables) for aforementioned events as necessary.
- Monitor ongoing public debates to analyse the need for specific communication initiatives to safeguard ERC’s position and reputation. Contribute to crisis communication as needed.
Visual brand
- Maintain Country Programme’s presence on the archive photo and video platform as well as collecting and archiving all necessary consent forms.
- Provide support to programmes with regards to developing and disseminating quality public information materials, translation and proofreading of booklets, brochures, leaflets, reports, infographics etc. as assigned, compliance with donors’ visibility requirements.
- Coordinate the procurement and distribution of visibility materials, including vests, stickers, notebooks, and banners, ensuring compliance with donor regulations and ERC's visual identity.
Media
- Develop and implement ERC’s Ukraine social media strategy. Contribute to ERC’s global social media accounts as needed.
- Act as the primary focal point for news media and any journalist or media requests at the country level.
Other:
- Check all public facing communications for consistency with humanitarian principles and agreed terminology. Take responsibility for the accuracy of all information, statistics, contact details etc of all public facing communications.
- Provide translation between Ukrainian and English and for meetings with authorities as needed
- Produce activity reports as needed, and contribute to relevant sections of donor reports and proposals.
- Organize and manage external resources such as photographers, graphic designers, simultaneous translations, printers etc.
- Any other responsibilities falling under the section/department’s mandate, as instructed by the line manager.
Kandidaadilt eeldame:
- Minimum five years of relevant professional experience in a similar field.
- At least 2 years working with a humanitarian NGO, preferably with donor funded programs. Candidate must be able to demonstrate competency with humanitarian principles and how to translate humanitarian principles into communications work.
- Fluency in Ukrainian and English. Must be able to produce materials in both languages and provide translation as required.
- Works independently with the ability to problem solve and generate innovative content for communications and promotional materials.
- Proactive and adaptable with outstanding interpersonal skills, essential for effective collaboration on a diverse multicultural team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office
- Bachelor's degree or higher in journalism, communications, marketing, international relations or equivalent.
- Proficiency with photoshop, lightroom, illustrator, professional photography, videography, graphic design or editing skills are not required but are a distinct advantage.
- Experience line managing a small team.
